Rangga Koto, Curated by Nandanggawe The title "MINORYHTM" is a play on "minor," "rhythm," and "minority," reflecting Rangga Koto's exploration of marginalization and modern life. Drawing inspiration from diatonic scales, his paintings merge intersecting lines and contrasting colors, creating harmony from discord. Influenced by his graphic design background, rock 'n roll roots, and the Invalid Urban art community, Rangga reimagines "design waste" into new artistic forms. Curator Nandanggawe likens his process to a musical jam session, where spontaneous improvisation shapes his art, blending chaotic yet meaningful arrangements. His use of typography underscores a deep connection to visual language, transforming structured design into expressive art. This exhibition is on view until March 16, 2025, at Artspace, Lobby Level.
A solo exhibition by Ramrama Born in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia, in 1993, Rama studied Painting at the Indonesian Art Institute Yogyakarta and graduated in 2018. His main concept revolves around the abstraction of plants and flora, expressed through an expressionist style characterized by bold and dynamic brushstrokes. These energetic and curved strokes symbolize strength and dynamism. For Rama, plants and flora share a life cycle similar to that of humans; both face various obstacles in their quest to thrive in their respective environments. This exhibition is on view until August 18, 2024, at Artspace, Lobby Level.
